A Bridge Too Far - Arnhem Design Choices As many of you will be familiar with the film 'A Bridge Too Far' which depicted the events of Operation Market Garden. For those of you unfamiliar, this was an Allied military operation during the Second World War fought in the German-occupied Netherlands from 17 to 25 September 1944.  The whole force Essentially the Allies tried to capture and hold three key bridgeheads with paratroopers landings and link these up with armoured forces. The furthest of these paratrooper landings, at Arnhem, managed to capture one side of the bridge. As mentioned, some of this, is depicted in the film. I remember growing up in a military family, watching this film many times when I was a kid.  The Act of Heroism One part of the film that stuck in my mind was that of the German assault on British positions at the bridge. Imperial Guard - French 15mm Waterloo

Armée du Nord 15mm Napoleon Bonaparte Waterloo Campaign The Big Cheese Over the last few weeks I have been introducing the massed ranks of I Corps, IV Reserve Corps plus a few additional. Now we move onto the amazing and fun to paint Imperial Guard.  But, before we do above is Napoleon Bonaparte. He is accompanied by three ADCs painted as Imperial Guard Brigade General, Light Infantry Brigade General and a Marshal of France as Chief of Staff. Inspiration for my Corps Command stand Let’s start with the command stand for the IG, which I took inspiration from the painting above to try and recreate. The painting is of the  Battle of Waterloo, Marshal Ney leading French cavalry charges against the British and Allied lines, around 3:30 p.m. on 18th June 1815. Marshal Ney with ADCs, also Murat & Lefebvre left and right. I am really please with the overall look, Ney’s ADCs are converted using Warlord Games Cavalry Officers, mainly head swaps or arm moves.
